Via Monte Pirchiriano 54, 10051 Avigliana
Since January 1, 2012, the Natural Parks of the Lakes of Avigliana, Orsiera Rocciavrè, Gran Bosco di Salbertrand, and Val Troncea have been unified under the Management Authority of the Protected Areas of the Cottian Alps, with headquarters in Salbertrand, at the former Gran Bosco Natural Park.
The Natural Park of the Lakes of Avigliana covers an area of approximately 400 hectares rich in environmental and ecological diversity. It is located at the mouth of the Susa Valley, at the foot of Monte Pirchiriano, where the ancient abbey of Sacra di San Michele stands, in a characteristic area of the Rivoli-Avigliana morainic amphitheater, just over 20 kilometers from Turin.
The park aims not only to protect a natural corner but also to establish a close symbiosis with the city of Avigliana based on respect for natural balances. Over time, numerous services have been prepared (trails, information structures, fishing ecomuseum, various publications, orienteering map) to meet the needs of visitors. In particular, a continuous educational relationship with schools (guided tours, conferences, projections) has been established, focused on the knowledge and enhancement of the environment, and infrastructures aimed at the disabled have been created (facilitated access paths, Braille lecterns, audio cassettes for the blind, reserved tables and parking lots).
