Piazza Conte Rosso, 7, 10051 Avigliana

At the gates of the Susa Valley, Avigliana is one of the most authentic medieval villages in the Piedmont area.
Located in a natural basin bordered by wooded morainic hills, it is also known for the two lakes which are the fulcrum of the protected area of the Avigliana Lakes Natural Park. The wooded moraine hill towards Val Sangone leads to the imposing Sacra di San Michele, while towards Turin Monte Cuneo offers a breathtaking panorama towards the mountains of Colle del Moncenisio and Rocciamelone.
Always, as today, a crossroads of roads and connections between Turin, France and the Pinerolo area, Avigliana retains its historical charm intact with the medieval buildings of Piazza Conte Rosso dominated by the remains of the 11th century Arduinico castle. Porticoes, mullioned windows, ancient terracotta stately buildings, the city walls, frescoes make up a rich architectural complex that unfolds along the streets of the old village: Casa Senore, Casa di Porta Ferrata, Casa del Beato Umberto.
Sacred art sees a very rich presence of frescoes with the Church of San Pietro on the road of the lakes, and significant altarpieces in San Giovanni. The city of Avigliana is also a production and industrial center which saw the beginnings of the industrialization of the Susa Valley. Throughout the year, high-level theater reviews and important musical events such as the internationally renowned Due Laghi Jazz Festival are integrated with concerts and events organized by many local associations. The products and flavors of the Avigliano area refer to a consolidated confectionery tradition of some historic pastry shops. Many of the city's restaurants offer menus and dishes from the Val Susina culinary tradition with local products.
