Via dei Suppo 1, 10051 Avigliana
Created thanks to the collaboration between the Municipality of Avigliana and the association La Famija ed Drubiaij in 2021, it is located in a room of the former municipal school in the Grangia locality in Avigliana.
It houses a series of objects, tools, and testimonies of local tradition, primarily of a rural nature. Much of the material, until a few years ago, was displayed in the Defendente Ferrari middle school thanks to the dedication and work of teachers and students who had collected, organized, and cataloged all the precious material. To this initial collection, several other related objects and documents have recently been added, specifically concerning the territory of Oltre Dora Aviglianese and donated to the museum by local residents.
The overall setup is made more interesting and enriched by small representations of life in those times in some corners.
The museum and its curators have a dual objective:
- To preserve the memory of this vibrant rural reality, not only in this specific territory but also in the surrounding areas of this part of the Susa Valley until the early part of the last century.
- To try to bring to light the history and events of Oltre Dora Aviglianese, the territory of Avigliana located beyond the Dora River, which includes the hamlets of Drubiaglio, Grangia, and Malano.
Therefore, the intention is to act just like a plow, which in this case turns over the sedimented history of the place and brings its roots to the surface. This action is carried out by drawing on private documents and correspondence, public archives of the time, and existing historical studies where they intersect with past events and figures relevant to this specific area.
