Heritage meets new forms of expression in Buttigliera Alta

A dance performance connecting bodies, space, and heritage, alongside a visit designed to explore the *Precettoria* (Preceptory) through play, storytelling, and garden observation. For European Heritage Days—Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27—the *Precettoria di Sant’Antonio di Ranverso* presents two events inviting visitors to view the historic complex in new ways, blending movement, participation, and discovery.

On Saturday, September 26, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, the *Precettoria* hosts *Volte celesti* (Celestial Vaults). This event is part of *Orizzonti prossimi: Corpi, luoghi, comunità* (Near Horizons: Bodies, Places, Communities)—a community-based contemporary dance project curated by the "è" association. The project fosters creative exchange among people of diverse ages and backgrounds while facilitating an encounter with the site's artistic and landscape heritage. The initiative is open to adults, seniors, young people, individuals with disabilities, and professionals in the cultural and social sectors. The event’s theme explores the relationship between humanity and the sky, drawing on the various dimensions evoked by the *Precettoria*: the spiritual—conveyed through its architecture and sacred imagery—as well as aspects linked to astronomical study and space exploration. It is a journey that creates a dialogue between the site and the human body through dance and storytelling.

While this proposal is part of the *E-Motus / Danzare con il Parkinson* (Dancing with Parkinson’s) and *Vie di Uscita: Arte e Movimento per Persone con Afasia* (Ways Out: Art and Movement for People with Aphasia) programs, it is open to anyone wishing to participate. Storytelling is led by Serena Fumero, a storyteller and educational coordinator for the *Fondazione Ordine Mauriziano*, while the movement experience is guided by Elena Maria Olivero, an artist and dance therapist with the "è" association. Cultural mediation is led by Annamaria Cilento, Accessibility Coordinator for the Education Department of the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, accompanied by Valentina Borsella, Head of Cultural Activities at the Fondazione Carlo Molo.

*Orizzonti prossimi* (Near Horizons) was created to take dance practice beyond the rehabilitation setting, focusing on the relationship between bodies, the freedom to move through shared spaces, and the connection to cultural and natural heritage. The event at Ranverso is organized by “è” arte, formazione, cura, in collaboration with the Fondazione Carlo Molo, the Education Department of the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, the Associazione Italiana Parkinsoniani, the Associazione Amici Parkinsoniani Piemonte, and the Lyceum Academy of Milan, working in a network with Le Incredibili Storie, the Fondazione Ordine Mauriziano, AITA Piemonte, and the Associazione Didee – Arti e Comunicazione.

On Sunday, September 27, at 3:30 PM, the European Heritage Days continue with *I segreti di Ranverso: piccolo viaggio nella magnifica Precettoria* (The Secrets of Ranverso: A Short Journey into the Magnificent Preceptory)—a thematic tour designed especially for families to explore the Preceptory and its garden. The route offers a journey tailored to both adults and children, allowing them to get to know the complex and—through playful approaches suited to various ages—reflect on how heritage is preserved and passed on. The tour aligns with the 2026 European Heritage Days theme, “Protecting Heritage: Renewing, Resisting, Reinventing,” and guides participants in discovering how a historic site can continue to be known, experienced, and shared over time. From the Preceptory to the garden, the tour introduces various ways to experience and understand Ranverso: through the stories and figures of saints, the animals, the *Pilgrim’s Game* (Gioco del Pellegrino), and other tools designed to introduce even the youngest visitors to the complex’s history and heritage.
