Buttigliera Alta
From the interpretation of frescoes and traditions linked to the agricultural calendar to tales surrounding the birth of Jesus, the Preceptory of Sant’Antonio di Ranverso presents four narrative-led tours throughout November and December. As winter arrives, the complex reaffirms its historical role as a place of hospitality and care, exploring stories, imagery, and seasonal observances that reveal the interplay between daily life, spirituality, and the changing of the seasons.
Scheduled between November 1 and December 20, 2026, these events each delve into a specific theme tied to the time of year: All Saints' Day, Saint Martin’s Day, Saint Lucy’s Day, and Christmas.

Saint Martin: The End of the Agricultural Cycle and a Time for Celebration
The feast of Saint Martin traditionally marked a significant phase in the rural calendar—a time coinciding with the conclusion of agricultural contracts, the first racking of the new wine, and the arrival of the first cold weather. This visit to the Preceptory focuses on the figure of the saint and his famous act of sharing his cloak with a poor man, while also exploring the connection between the site and the region’s agricultural activities. Proverbs, rituals, and customs reveal the deep-rooted link between spirituality, working the land, and the spirit of hospitality.
All sessions begin at 3:00 PM and include a comprehensive guided tour of the Preceptory of Sant’Antonio di Ranverso, enhanced by a specific thematic focus. The narratives are presented by Serena Fumero, head of Educational Services for the FOM (Fondazione Ordine Mauriziano). INFO
