The figure of the Madonna pervades and unites the entire figurative cycle of the Preceptory of Sant'Antonio di Ranverso: a visual narrative that, from the Annunciation to the Nativity and the death of the Virgin, presents one of the most complex and layered narratives of late medieval Piedmont.
On the occasion of Mother's Day, a special exhibition dedicated to the Marian representation within the complex will be held on Sunday, May 10th, where painting, devotion, and patronage intertwine in a highly coherent visual journey. The fresco cycle, largely attributed to Giacomo Jaquerio and his workshop, unfolds a narrative sequence that accompanies the visitor through the central moments of the Virgin's life. From the Annunciation, captured in an intimate and suspended dimension, to the Nativity scene, and finally to the Dormitio Virginis, a pictorial language emerges, capable of combining attention to detail, spatial construction, and expressive intensity. This is not an isolated episode, but a unified iconographic project that reflects the Preceptory's function as a place of care and spirituality linked to the Antonine Hospitaller Order. The figure of the Madonna takes on a central role here: a model of intercession and a constant presence within a context marked by care and welcome.
