Buttigliera Alta
From the interpretation of frescoes and traditions linked to the agricultural calendar to tales surrounding the birth of Jesus, the Preceptory of Sant’Antonio di Ranverso presents four narrative-led tours throughout November and December. As winter arrives, the complex reaffirms its historical role as a place of hospitality and care, exploring stories, imagery, and seasonal observances that reveal the interplay between daily life, spirituality, and the changing of the seasons.
Scheduled between November 1 and December 20, 2026, these events each delve into a specific theme tied to the time of year: All Saints' Day, Saint Martin’s Day, Saint Lucy’s Day, and Christmas.

All Saints' Day
Saints in Stone, Saints in Color
Gazes, attributes, and stories depicted in the frescoes of Ranverso
In celebration of All Saints' Day, this tour focuses on the figures of the saints depicted on the church walls. Alongside the history of the complex, the narrative explores the specific elements—or "attributes"—that allow for the identification of these sacred figures: from the fire and staff associated with Saint Anthony the Abbot to the symbols of various patron saints and martyrs. This journey through Christian iconography, architecture, and medieval art offers a way to interpret the symbols and images that shed light on aspects of devotion and everyday life in the Middle Ages.
All sessions begin at 3:00 PM and include a comprehensive guided tour of the Preceptory of Sant’Antonio di Ranverso, enhanced by a specific thematic focus. The narratives are presented by Serena Fumero, head of Educational Services for the FOM (Fondazione Ordine Mauriziano). INFO
