The celebrations for the 1300th anniversary of the founding of Novalesa Abbey continue on October 4, 2026, with the organization of Sulla Via dell’Abbazia (On the Way of the Abbey), a non-competitive recreational walk that combines sport, landscape appreciation, and cultural rediscovery along the trails of the Susa Valley.

The initiative, organized by A.S.D. IRIDE, an affiliate of Libertas APS, will cover a 14-kilometer route, starting from Susa at 9:30 a.m. and arriving at the evocative monastic complex of Novalesa. Along the route, which follows the historic routes of the Via Francigena, participants will have the opportunity to take guided tours of the Abbey and, at the end of the walk, enjoy refreshments provided by the Proloco and the Novalesa Alpine Group.

The event is organized with the patronage and financial support of the Metropolitan City of Turin, which, as the owner of this jewel of art, faith, history, and culture, has recognized the project's high value and strategic impact within the celebrations for Novalesa Abbey.

"Supporting Sulla Via dell'Abbazia," emphasized Jacopo Suppo, Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan City of Turin, "is a fitting recognition for a symbol of our region's identity. The October 4th event demonstrates how millennia of history can interact with the contemporary, offering a healthy and sustainable way to experience the Susa Valley. We wanted to recognize the quality of a project that connects sports, tourism, and local excellence: investing in Novalesa means giving international resonance to a heritage that belongs to the entire metropolitan community and deserves to be promoted as a driver of development for the entire Alpine region."
