At the Precettoria of Sant’Antonio di Ranverso, on Sunday 12 October, history comes back to life. The focus will be on the year 1600, when the Susa Valley was crossed by the Camino de los Tercios Españoles, or Corredor Sardo, a land route created during the reign of Philip II to move troops and resources to Flanders, avoiding the risks of the Atlantic crossing. The main route started in Milan and crossed the Alps through the Duchy of Savoy, then continued through Franche-Comté, Lorraine, Luxembourg, the Bishopric of Liège, and Flanders, until it reached Brussels.
The reenactment “LIFE, snapshots of life through time” is curated by Le vie del tempo. For the occasion, two themed guided tours are also scheduled at 11 am and 3:30 pm, focusing on the interior decorative cycles of the abbey church.
