A journey through art, history, and imagination that traverses the visionary worlds of the *Temptations of Saint Anthony*. On Saturday, October 3rd, the Preceptory of Sant’Antonio di Ranverso hosts “The Mysteries of Ranverso” (*I misteri di Ranverso*), a role-playing experience designed specifically for this Gothic complex, transforming the visit into an interactive narrative.
“The Temptations of Saint Anthony” is an original adventure written by the “Departments & Dragons” group from the University of Turin, set in a Middle Ages suspended between historical reality and a realm of fantasy.
The story draws inspiration from Hieronymus Bosch’s famous *Temptation of Saint Anthony* triptych—housed at the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga in Lisbon—and creates a dialogue between it and the fresco cycle on the same theme painted by Giacomo Jaquerio in the presbytery of the Ranverso abbey church. Participants will explore locations, figures, and symbols inspired by these artworks, virtually stepping into the painted worlds through a collaborative storytelling experience.
The game is based on *Hieronymus*, a title created by Laurie O’Connel and published in Italy by Grumpy Bear. Through the medium of role-playing, participants will engage with themes of imagination, emotion, and human behavior, experiencing the Preceptory’s spaces in a way that differs from a traditional visit.
The day’s schedule includes a meeting at 11:30 AM, a guided tour of the Preceptory, a packed lunch in the cloister (provided by the participants), and the role-playing game session running from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM.
