Seventy-five years of activity, over a thousand concerts, a choral tradition spanning generations: the Coro Amici della Montagna CAI (Friends of the Mountain Choir) of Asti celebrates this milestone with a concert on Saturday, May 16, at the Preceptory of Sant'Antonio di Ranverso.
The Asti-based group, directed by Flavio Duretto, performs a selection of the most representative pieces from its repertoire, blending mountain songs, Alpine songs, and folk songs. This musical journey retraces the history and identity of the choir, founded in 1951 and since then a protagonist of intense concert activity in Italy and abroad. During the event, two founding members will also be honored in recognition of their contribution to the group's creation and continuity. Among the significant moments of its history, the choir received the Order of San Secondo in the 2000s, one of the city of Asti's most important honors.
At 8:45 pm, for the Night of the Museums, a guided tour with a guided tour of the cloister and the abbey church will follow, followed by a short nighttime stroll along the Via Francigena. The tour will lead you to discover the frescoes by Giacomo Jaquerio, in a setting enhanced by the nocturnal atmosphere.
