church Abbeys and monasteries

Sant'Ambrogio di Torino

From September 17th to 30th, a 5-kilometer-long beam will rise from the Sacra di San Michele, evoking the Sword of the Archangel Michael in the sky.

For the feast of Saint Michael, the abbey will once again bring to life the evocative light installation that evokes the Archangel's sword, a universal emblem of protection, defense of faith, and the fight against evil.

The beam, precisely oriented eastward following the axis of the large apse window, will be projected into the sky at a 47-degree angle, creating an image of powerful scenic and spiritual impact, capable of being observed even from a great distance.

The project was born from an idea by photographer Franco Borrelli, author of numerous publications dedicated to the Sacra di San Michele, and was developed together with the lighting designers of Space Cannon, who transformed the idea into a light installation.

The initiative aims to combine faith, art, and technology to enhance one of Europe's most iconic sites, entrusting light with the task of conveying a universal message that invites reflection and sharing.
