Amid the aromas of the Canestrello Festival and the stories of medieval pilgrims, on Sunday, May 24, the Preceptory of Sant'Antonio di Ranverso is offering an initiative that blends popular tradition and historical memory. Throughout the day, the complex's outdoor spaces will host the historic event dedicated to this local sweet treat, while at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., two themed tours exploring Ranverso's history along the Via Francigena are scheduled.
"The Abbey along the Via Francigena. Monks and Pilgrims in Ranverso" is the title of the guided tour that traces the Preceptory's role in the Middle Ages as a place of welcome, assistance, and care for wayfarers and pilgrims heading to Turin and beyond the Alps. The tour leads the public through the complex, recounting the daily life of the Antonian canons, the hospital's activities, and Ranverso's connection to one of Europe's main pilgrimage routes. A tour that also allows you to explore the Preceptory's artistic heritage, including Gothic architecture, pictorial cycles, and testimonies of medieval devotion.
