Royal Harmonies Along the Via Francigena in Sant'Ambrogio di Torino and Buttigliera Alta

On Saturday, May 23rd and Sunday, May 24th, the Regie Armonie musical series Along the Via Francigena will stop at Sant'Ambrogio in Turin and the Preceptory of Sant'Antonio di Ranverso.
On Saturday the 23rd at 9:00 pm in the parish church of San Giovanni Vincenzo in Sant’Ambrogio di Torino, organist Stefania Mettadelli and saxophonist Isabella Stabio will perform works by Domenico Cimarosa (Concerto in C minor), Georg Philipp Telemann (Fantasy No. 2 in A minor TWV 40:3), Gaetano Donizetti (Sonata in F major A504), Vincenzo Bellini (Oboe Concerto in E-flat major), Louis James Alfred Lefébure-Wély (Sortie in E-flat for solo organ), Edward Elgar (Salut d’amour), Pietro Mascagni (Intermezzo from Cavalleria rusticana), and Jean-Baptiste Singelée (Fantasy op. 89).
On Sunday, May 24th at 5 pm, the ensemble Les Violes du Roi (Angelo Lombardo, Virginia Ghiringhelli and Eleonora Ghiringhelli on the viola da gamba, Davide Stefanelli on the harpsichord) will perform in the concert “At the King's Court: Dances and Affections between the Chamber and Court in the Time of the Sun King.” On the fourth Sunday of May, the Canestrello and Chocolate Festival of Buttigliera Alta will enliven the area of the Preceptory of Sant’Antonio di Ranverso, from the hospital to the gardens surrounding the abbey, with the gastronomic excellences and artisanal products of the Susa Valley. Guided tours of the abbey church will be available from 9:30 am to 5 pm, with particular attention to the frescoes by Giacomo Jaquerio. The program of the 5pm concert includes pages from Monsieur De Saint Colombe (Tombeau les regrets à deux violes égales), Christophe Ballard (”J’avois cru qu’en vous aimant”, “Ah que ces bois, ces ruisseaux”, Marin Marais (“Le Labyrinthe”, Pièces de violes, Livre IV), Honoré D’Ambruis (“Le doux silence dans nos bois”, François Couperin (Septième Prélude, L’art de toucher le clavecin, Les barricades misteryouses), Anonymous of the 18th century (Les tendres souhaits), Antoine Forqueray (Pièce à trois violes).
The executive and artistic project of the concerts along the Via Francigena is curated by the Itinerari in association Music in collaboration with the participating municipalities. Partners in the initiative are the cultural association Organalia and the record label Elegia Classics. Media partners are the web TV SoloClassica Channel and the Facebook groups "Amici della Classica a Torino e in Piemonte," "La musica del Settecento," and "Intrecci barocchi."
