Buttigliera Alta
For the 900th anniversary of the birth of Mafalda of Savoy, the first Queen of Portugal, the Committee for the Protection of Piedmontese Heritage and Traditions of the international association Regina Elena Odv is organizing a commemoration on Saturday, October 4 at the Preceptory of Sant’Antonio di Ranverso.
The program includes a Holy Mass in memory of the sovereign, celebrated by Don Franco Gonella, parish priest of Buttigliera Alta and Rosta, followed by a tribute to Matilda/Mafalda of Savoy and the founding of the Kingdom of Portugal, presented by Andrea Carnino. This will be followed by a commemoration of Monsignor Italo Ruffino, ten years after his passing, led by Silvio Amprino, president of the Amici di Avigliana association. Several historical groups will take part in the event.
The day will conclude with the preview presentation of the book “Savoy: The Family Tree and Key Figures of the Dynasty” (Susalibri) by Andrea Carnino and Pierangelo Calvo.
