Buttigliera Alta

The garden as a place of healing and a key to understanding Gothic architecture: on Sunday, June 7, the Preceptory of Sant'Antonio di Ranverso will host "Hortus Conclusus," a tour that invites visitors to observe the monumental complex from an unusual perspective, intertwining history, spirituality, and landscape.

The initiative ideally retraces the ancient Via Francigena to accompany visitors on a discovery of the Preceptory through the themes of healing, nature, and the relationship between built space and garden. From the ancient hospital to the church, the tour culminates in the Hortus Conclusus, a secluded and symbolic place where the perspective is reversed: it is from within the garden that Gothic architecture reveals its essence, in a continuous dialogue between stone, light, and vegetation. The vertical lines of the building, observed from this protected space, guide the gaze upward and transform the garden into a place of immersion and contemplation, where the well-being of body and spirit meet.

The event is organized in collaboration with APGI, the Association of Parks and Gardens of Italy.
