The Diocesan Museum of Susa and the Civic Museum of Turin-Palazzo Madama in 2021 shared an ambitious exhibition project with the goal of reconstructing, as comprehensively as possible, the figure of Antoine de Lonhy and his extraordinary importance for the modernization of the figurative landscape of the current Piedmont territory in the second half of the 15th century.

The exhibition "The European Renaissance of Antoine De Lonhy", hosted in 2021 at the two venues in Susa and Turin, aimed to highlight the international profile of this artist, while paying particular attention to his Piedmontese period and the influence he exerted on other contemporary painters and sculptors.

In order to provide a complete museum experience and fully understand the extraordinary figure of Antoine De Lonhy, we consider it essential to engage with the territory lived, inhabited, and frequented by the artist: a way to understand his life experiences and thereby the multifaceted process leading to artistic creation. Turin, the Susa Valley, the Aosta Valley, and the court environments of the Duchy of Savoy are fundamental places and spaces to restore a comprehensive and multifaceted figure of a great 15th-century artist in the Piedmontese territory.

Thus, an off-site itinerary was created, which remains always relevant and unfolds between the Susa Valley, the Aosta Valley, Saint Jean de Maurienne, and Turin and its surroundings. It touches points of interest such as the Church of San Pietro and the historic center of Avigliana, the Chapel of Madonna delle Grazie in Foresto, a hamlet of Bussoleno, the Parish Church of Santo Stefano, the abbey and its museums in Novalesa, the Cathedral of San Giusto and the bell tower in Susa, the Cathedral of Aosta with the Cathedral Museum and the Collegiate Church of Sant'Orso, the Parish Churches of Valgrisenche, Morgex, and Gignod, the Diocesan Museum of Turin, and the Abbey of Vezzolano, and the Cathedral of Saint Jean de Maurienne.
