With the 8:00 PM Mass on July 16, the community of Santa Maria will gather together in faith to celebrate the Madonna del Carmine, one of the most heartfelt and deeply rooted religious holidays in local tradition.
The festival is rooted in popular devotion and local culture, testifying to a history of lived and shared faith. Even today, this celebration is not only a religious event, but a precious moment to rediscover the identity and values of a community that has proudly preserved its traditions.
In the past, the July 16th festival was also an occasion of collective joy: sweets stalls, the traditional stage dance, and the rides near the chapel of San Rocco enlivened the town, involving
young and old in an atmosphere of celebration and sharing.
The anniversary is also linked to the figure of the Venerable Don Luigi Balbiano, assistant curate of Avigliana for forty-seven years. The confessional he used throughout his life is still kept in the ancient church: a concrete symbol of his dedication and unshakeable faith.
