On Sunday 12 October at 4:30 pm, as part of the Avigliana Insieme festival, the Vita e Pace Cultural Center will host, in the church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Avigliana, the penultimate concert of the music season dedicated to the theme "Music and Animals."
The protagonists of the afternoon will be pianists Silvia Cucchi and Stefania Salvai, who will alternate at the keyboard and also perform four-hand pieces, presenting a repertoire rich in virtuosic compositions and improvisations inspired by the animal world.
Like all the musicians who took part in this intense concert season, these two artists have enthusiastically accepted Vita e Pace’s invitation to explore the theme of music in relation to animals.
The concert, entitled "Ma Mère l’Oye" (“Mother Goose Tales”), is inspired by the suite of the same name by Maurice Ravel, composed for two children and based on Charles Perrault’s fairy tales: Sleeping Beauty, Tom Thumb, Beauty and the Beast…
The event will open and close with four-hand performances, while throughout the program the two pianists will alternate in solo pieces, offering the audience tributes to Mozart, Ravel, Debussy, and a surprising protagonist: the fantastic Blue Wolf.
Guiding the audience through this fascinating listening journey will be musicologist Cristiana Riffero, a prominent figure on the international scene for her studies on vocal repertoire and twentieth-century music. With passion and expertise, her contribution will provide a deep and evocative interpretation: a unique opportunity to experience listening in a more conscious and intense way.
The public is also reminded that in the space accessible from the external corridor on the left side of the churchyard, the art exhibition by Daniela Bruno, “Animal Gaze,” is still open: a visual journey into the wild soul of the world that silently observes us.
Free admission.
