The Granfondo Sestriere Colle delle Finestre returns to the dirt road made famous by the Giro d'Italia on the first weekend of July. This eagerly awaited event for amateur cycling enthusiasts, sponsored and supported by the Metropolitan City of Turin, is sponsored and supported by the Metropolitan City of Turin.
The event is open to all members of ACSI, the Italian Cycling Federation, and sports promotion bodies with a medical certificate of fitness for competitive cycling, as well as to foreign amateur cyclists with a valid UCI license. At least 2,000 competitors are expected to compete on the climbs of the Olympic mountains, now renowned throughout Europe.
The race will kick off on Friday, July 3rd, with the Baby Cup Gymkhana, while Saturday the 4th will be the turn of the Gravel Race and the thirty-eighth edition of the Assietta Legend MTB, an international mountain bike race combined with the Gravel Race, starting and finishing in Piazza Fraiteve in Sestriere. The Assietta Legend will start at 9:15 am, and competitors will face a 68 km course with 1,862 meters of elevation gain. The Gravel Race will start at 9:45 am. The first Assietta Legend competitors are expected at the finish line starting at 12:00 pm, while the Gravel Race will conclude with the top positions around 12:30 pm.
Sunday, July 5th will be the day of the Granfondo Sestriere Colle delle Finestre, on one of the most iconic climbs in world cycling. The start will be in Cesana Torinese and the route will cover 103.6 kilometers, with a 3,170-meter elevation gain, including the ascent to the 2,176-meter Colle delle Finestre. Combined with the long-distance race will be the 79-kilometer Medio Fondo with a 2,370-meter climb. The first competitors are expected at the finish line in Sestriere starting at 11:00 a.m. for the Medio Fondo and at 12:00 p.m. for the Gran Fondo.
