At 4:30 PM on September 14th, as part of the 2025 series at the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore in the old town of Avigliana, the concert "Zoofonie Musicali" will take place. This performance is conceived by composer and bass-baritone Mattia Sebastiano Pauluzzo and will feature soprano Rita La Vecchia, Pauluzzo himself, and pianist Andrea Troni.
The audience will be taken on a journey through a dreamlike animal world with "Carnivals, Bestiaries, and Imaginary Voyages", enjoying both well-known and original pieces, marked by good humor, irony, reflection, and poetry.
The head and tail of this musical creature will be, respectively, "The Carnival of the Animals" by Camille Saint-Saëns—transcribed for voices and piano by Pauluzzo, who also wrote the lyrics—and "The Journey", a fantasia for the same trio of musicians, composed by Pauluzzo based on a poem by Edward Lear.
Its neck, heart, and plumage will be offered by Joplin, Brahms, and Rameau… and who knows, there might even be room for an encore from the zoo.
