Vicolo della Torre, 10056 Oulx

The Tower of Oulx was probably erected between 1350 and 1377, and documents suggest that it had a role more related to the presence of royal officials in the territory than to actual military purposes.

There is no information about the historical period in which the importance of the tower began to decline or the era in which it was definitively abandoned; it was already recorded as a ruin in a survey from 1735.

The precarious state of the building prompted Luigi Des Ambrois of Nevache, minister of Charles Albert and a native of Oulx, to request the tower in perpetual leasehold, in order to proceed with a restoration intervention useful for preserving its remains without altering its characteristics.

The request was accepted by the Municipality. Following Des Ambrois' death, the tower passed to his heirs, who only in recent years have formally renounced their rights, returning the structure to the Municipality; since 1978 it has been subject to protection by the Superintendence of Architectural and Environmental Heritage of Piedmont.

Today the building has been restored and renovated and serves as a charming exhibition space for exhibitions and events.
