Sant'Ambrogio di Torino

At the Giansone Museum at 5:30 PM, SOUNDED TOURS curated by Marco BASSO.

All of Mario Giansone's work has jazz as a favorite theme: whether orchestras or dancers, his fascination with this music is expressed in his sculptures, paintings, woodcuts, and jewelry.

The "Sounded Tour" is saxophonist Giuseppe Golisano's homage to Giansone's theories. Among the Piedmontese musicians most accustomed to improvisation today, Golisano has been a frequent visitor to the post-bop scene for years.

In six different moments, he will represent in music the theory of tangents, modular theory, and the concept, dear to Giansone, according to which sculpture consists in "extracting" forms from the amorphous support, gradually outlining their outline and then stopping at the final moment of its genetic process.

The musician intends to express, through improvisational inspiration, the many points of contact between the sculptor's theories and jazz playing.

There are numerous and important affinities between the Piedmontese maestro's approach and jazz, where rhythmic forms multiply and articulate, instruments interact with each other, and the dynamism of musical scales recalls sculpture, where nothing ever remains still.

The very process of transmitting Giansone's theories to his students is similar to that of jazz, where teachers teach by playing with their students.

Ticket: €15.
