From March 31st to April 6th, from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, the Palazzo delle Feste foyer will host the exhibition "Turin 1946 - 2026. Eighty Years Since Women First Vote."
To mark the 80th anniversary of women's first vote in Italy, a historic milestone that in 1946 saw women participate for the first time in the Constituent Assembly elections, the institutional referendum, and administrative consultations, the Metropolitan City of Turin is once again offering a re-edition of the photography exhibition "Turin 1946 - 2016. Seventy Years Since Women First Vote."
The exhibition, which was a resounding success ten years ago, is being revived today to commemorate a momentous transition: women's participation in the vote was not just a political act, but a revolutionary event for social customs, experienced with an enthusiasm and hope that shines through in every shot.
The historic images are part of a private collection and were saved from oblivion by collector Franco Senestro, who purchased them in 1983 when, with the closure of the editorial office of the "Gazzetta del Popolo," the newspaper's furnishings, archives, and various materials were put up for sale.
During the Easter holidays, the traveling exhibition will move to the Palazzo delle Feste in Bardonecchia.
