"Their cry is my voice," a grassroots local collective returns to Piazza Conte Rosso. Merchants, associations, cooperatives, artists, and various segments of civil society have chosen to work together to make the voices of migrant agricultural workers heard.
The event begins at 6:00 PM on the terrace of the Ciclocucina restaurant (Piazza Conte Rosso 20) with a meeting with Peppe Pugliese, founder and spokesperson for the SOS Rosarno association. The event includes a tasting (with a free donation) and presentation of the agricultural products marketed by the SOS Rosarno project, accompanied by a DJ set by Lu Rasta, chestnuts, and mulled wine.
At 7:30 PM, the event moves to the council chamber (Piazza Conte Rosso 7) for the screening of excerpts from the documentary "The Pickers," which follows the experiences of six migrant agricultural workers in four European countries: oranges in Italy, blueberries in Portugal, strawberries in Spain, and olives in Greece.
During the evening, it will be possible to join solidarity purchasing groups and support the SOS Rosarno association, which for years has promoted an agricultural model based on equity, rights, and social justice.
