At Fassino cinema in Avigliana "Monte Corno".
The documentary film tells the story of the historic feat of Francesco De Marchi, who on August 19, 1573, together with a small expedition, conquered the summit of Corno Grande, on the Gran Sasso, one of the highest mountains in Italy.
De Marchi kept a faithful diary of his feat, from which the film's narration is drawn. Thanks to a reconstruction and documentary story, we follow the words of De Marchi, but also those of contemporary historians, mountaineers and geologists. The story of this epic climb takes place on an impervious limestone rock, retracing the fatigue and wonder of what was one of the first great Italian mountaineering feats.
The story is also enriched by the contribution of modern-day experts, who contextualize and enhance this historic conquest, shedding light on a little-known but fundamental chapter.
