The Monte Chaberton Association is organizing and hosting a meeting in Cesana Torinese to commemorate the Battle of the Alps.
Program:
SATURDAY, June 20 – Cesana Torinese
10:30 a.m. Gathering at the Cesana Torinese Town Hall, a parade through the town streets, and a ceremony (flag-raising, honors to the fallen, and speeches) at the Chaberton War Memorial, attended by the highest civil and military authorities. The procession will then proceed to the municipal cemetery for the laying of a wreath by the "Veterans of the 40th Susa D'Fer Battery" association.
2:00 p.m. Guided tours of the permanent exhibition at the Palazzo delle Feste in Bardonecchia.
SUNDAY, June 21 – Chaberton Summit
Commemoration at the summit (given the heavy snow, the decision regarding the ascent will be announced on the association's social media channels closer to the date).
7:00 AM (Montgenèvre): A delegation of Italian and French reenactors will meet at the trailhead for the ascent of Chaberton. 11:30 AM (summit): Historical commemoration. The ascent is self-guided.
