Avigliana
What happens when sculpture, poetry, painting, and music meet? An artistic journey is born, capable of spanning time and speaking to new generations.
On Saturday, June 20th, at 4:30 PM, in the church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Avigliana, the Vita e Pace association presents the musical event "Mario Giansone – Sculptor, Painter, Poet, and Goldsmith," an original tribute to one of the protagonists of 20th-century Piedmontese art.
On stage, tenor Corrado Margutti and guitarist Nicolò Spera will lead the audience through the creative universe of Mario Giansone, a Turin-born artist capable of expressing himself through multiple mediums: from sculpture to painting, from goldsmithing to poetry.
His story is that of a tireless creative who has left a profound mark on Italian culture, collaborating with important masters of his time and creating works now held in public and private collections. Among his most significant works are the Santa Cecilia for the RAI Auditorium in Turin and the monumental Concerto Jazz, a testament to the connection between his artistic research and the world of music.
The event will not only be a commemoration, but a living and contemporary cultural experience.
The program features musical compositions inspired by Giansone and a sound research that highlights the heritage of Italy's regional and minority languages. The lyrics span different territories and cultures: from Calabrian to Titsch of the Aosta Valley, from Neapolitan to Occitan, to Griko Salento and Arbëreshë.
An opportunity to listen to rare sounds, discover little-known linguistic identities, and reflect on the value of cultural diversity through art.
To further enrich the experience of the day, and until September 2026, the Vita e Pace Cultural Center is pleased to host the art exhibition "The Silence of Portraits" in the rooms adjacent to the Church of Santa Maria.
The exhibition brings together works by contemporary artists Daniela Bruno, Alessia Cagnotto, Davide Camattari, Daniela Capasso, Patrizia Pantieri, and Salvatore Sardo, who interpret the theme through diverse expressive languages and sensibilities.
An artistic journey that invites the public to reflect on the value of the gaze, contemplation, and silent listening, offering multiple interpretations and opportunities for reflection. Through diverse techniques and styles, the artists create works capable of arousing emotions, stimulating curiosity, and creating a dialogue between art, personal experience, and imagination.
The exhibition offers an opportunity to explore contemporary art in a welcoming and evocative setting, open to visitors of all ages and sensibilities.
Free admission.
