The Borgo Sant’Agata association has organized an event for the weekend of Friday, June 19th to Sunday, June 21st, linked to the FAI Place of the Heart "Cascina Comboira" and the "Monumental Avenue of the Mulberry Trees."
Program:
Friday, June 19th, at 8:30 PM at Cascina Roland, a conference entitled "Step by Step between Charterhouses and Mulberry Trees": the mulberry tree, both as a plant within its ecosystem and its use in the silk industry, and the use of the fruit in natural medicine and in the preparation of colors; the Carthusians in history and spirituality, the paths they used to travel from the Charterhouse to the village, and the inhabitants of the Grangia who brought food to the Carthusians.
The conference will be preceded by an aperitif at 7:00 PM.
Saturday, June 20th, at 3:00 PM, watercolor workshop with natural inks; 5:00 PM: Opening of the "Memories of Silk" exhibition (the exhibition will also be open to the public all day on Sunday).
On Sunday, June 21st, there will be an impromptu painting session throughout the morning in the hamlets of Vignassa, Comboira, Lanzore, and Gerbola. The awards ceremony will take place at 4:00 PM in Gerbola. Two walks will be held during the day: one focused on the Carthusian monastery and its mulberry trees, and the other on the Marchis refractory materials factory (a very famous and respected factory from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, now almost entirely lost). At 5:30 PM, the "Place of the Heart - Cascina Comboira" plaque will be unveiled in the hamlet of Comboira-Lanzore, attended by the FAI Valle di Susa delegation.
