Pigs, goats, dragons, and scorpions: in the Preceptory of Sant'Antonio di Ranverso, dedicated to the patron saint of animals, there are frescoes that also depict fauna. From pigs, often found in the iconography of Saint Anthony due to the widespread use of pig fat by the Antonian monks to treat skin conditions related to shingles, to goats depicted in the procession of shepherds, and even scorpions and dragons on the banners of Christ's "executioners" to represent evil.
The event on Saturday, September 6, "HIC sunt Viperae" is a thematic visit followed by a conference organized in collaboration with Daniele Pesce, Management Body of the Protected Areas of the Royal Parks, to discover the fauna depicted in the frescoes and their symbolism.
