Giaglione
The FAI Autumn Days return on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 October, now in their fourteenth edition: one of the most eagerly awaited and well-attended events dedicated to discovering and enhancing Italy’s cultural and landscape heritage, organized by FAI – Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano ETS.
As always, the protagonists of this great celebration will be FAI volunteers: the FAI Youth Groups, the “Apprendisti Ciceroni” and the Foundation’s entire local network who, with enthusiasm and creativity, will guide visitors to the discovery of places of art, history, and nature, often little known but rich in charm and memory.
The FAI Autumn Days are a unique opportunity to explore not only historic palaces, churches, and museums, but also villages, landscapes, industrial sites, natural areas, and local traditions. Two days to experience and rediscover “our heritage,” to be safeguarded and passed on. Visitors will be invited to make a voluntary donation in support of the Foundation’s activities.
OPENINGS IN THE SUSA VALLEY: GIAGLIONE
Giaglione: territory, culture and folklore
An itinerary intertwining art, faith, and identity. The visit begins at the church of San Vincenzo, guardian of centuries of religious history and precious architectural stratification. Just a few steps away, the Alpine Museum of Religious Art preserves works and liturgical objects rarely displayed to the public. To complete the experience, local traditions: collective rituals, the rhythm of the Bran, the spadonari (traditional sword dancers), and costumes that enliven community life. A story that combines culture, spirituality, and popular memory.
Visits Saturday and Sunday, 10 am–5 pm
From stone to vineyard: Giaglione’s traditions and productions
An itinerary that reveals two sides of the village: popular devotion, with chapels and places of worship spread across the territory, and the care of traditional crops. Visitors will be able to access, in addition to the chapel of San Rocco, the cellar of Cré Seren – fully active after the harvest – and the vineyard, guided by owner Giancarlo Martina, direct witness of a deep-rooted and passionate agricultural knowledge. From the panoramic terrace it will be possible to admire a landscape of great biodiversity.
Visits Saturday and Sunday, 10 am–4 pm – reserved for FAI members
Canale di Maria Bona
A medieval hydraulic work, still visible in the landscape, that tells the story of how water shaped the agricultural life and economy of the village. Along the route, between natural environment and traces of human ingenuity, visitors will be able to appreciate the local biodiversity. Trekking shoes are recommended. For the return, a shuttle service from the Pian delle Ruine car park will be available, provided by the Municipality.
Visits Saturday, 1:30–3:30 pm and Sunday, 10 am–3 pm
