Piazza San Giusto, 10059 Susa

The abbey church of San Giusto di Susa, now a cathedral, was consecrated in 1027. In 1029, a Benedictine monastery attached to it was founded. The building underwent renovations in 1321 and in the fifteenth century, with Gothic decorations and terracotta pinnacles. In 1581, the Benedictine monks were replaced by the Lateran Canons, and in 1772, it became the cathedral of the Diocese of Susa. It preserves external and internal Romanesque frescoes, such as depictions of prophets and church fathers, as well as a Romanesque pictorial cycle in the base of the bell tower.
