Following the resounding success of the 2025 edition of "Avigliana Insieme" with "Ricordando Val di Miele," the event returns on Sunday, August 9th, from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm, with an entire day dedicated to the theme of Peace.
The initiative, promoted by the Vita e Pace Cultural Center, is part of the 2026 program, which has as its guiding theme "People, Characters, and Personalities," and pays tribute to Bertha von Suttner, a Prague-born writer, pioneer of the international peace movement, and the first woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1905.
Through lectures, testimonies, book presentations, and musical and artistic performances, the public will be guided on a journey that seeks to reflect on the meaning of peace as a personal and collective responsibility, offering opportunities for dialogue and exchange between different cultures, experiences, and sensibilities.
The event will open with musician and researcher Lavinia Pizzo, who will retrace the life and thought of Bertha von Suttner, also illustrating the numerous cultural initiatives that have sprung from her legacy, from pacifist associations to books, from films to a musical dedicated to her.
Guests include artist, educator, and musician Luca Molinero, who will present his children's book written in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and discuss his activities dedicated to the inclusion of people with disabilities, and teacher and writer Roberta Masinari, author of the book "Extraordinary Flowers," born from her educational experience with her students, each symbolically represented by a flower.
Ample space will also be given to the testimonies of those who work concretely in conflict-ridden areas.
Enrico Vigna of the CIVG (Center for Initiatives for Truth and Justice) will illustrate the organization's work, which for over fifteen years has been committed to documenting the effects of war and, through the S.O.S. Peace project, supporting civil society and the most vulnerable victims of conflict.
Musicologist Cristina Riffero will lead the audience in an original narrative dedicated to the places of memory of great Italian musicians, focusing on the singular story of the remains of Niccolò Paganini.
In the afternoon, painter Luisa Morandi will present the figure of French painter Séraphine de Senlis, while blind pianist Fabrizio Sandretto will offer a musical interlude featuring music by Aram Khachaturian, Nino Rota, and other composers.
This will be followed by a talk by writer Ennio Baronetto, dedicated to the men, ideas, and monuments of the Val Sangone, with an in-depth discussion on the centenary of the Santuario del Selvaggio.
The final part of the day will feature the show "War on War," performed by singer and actress Rosanna Galleggiante, accompanied by musician Mauro Cavagliato, followed by a reflection presented by the International School of the Golden Rosycross on the theme "Peace in the World, but Not of This World."
The program will also feature musical performances by Almendra Torres Amat, Simone Costante, Joele Alberto, and several young musicians.
The event will conclude with a circle dance session, a symbol of harmony, sharing, and participation.
In a historical period marked by wars and growing international tensions, the Vita e Pace Cultural Center is proposing a day that aims to be not only a cultural event, but a concrete opportunity to promote dialogue, solidarity, and the culture of nonviolence.
For the organizers, peace is not an abstract ideal, but a daily practice born from encounters between people, mutual understanding, and the desire to build a more just society.
Free admission.
