The eighth edition of the Via Francigena Marathon in Val di Susa takes place on Sunday, June 7th. The event, which has attracted walkers from all over Italy over the years, returns with an even richer and more customizable program.
A "tailor-made" marathon: a challenge for everyone through the villages of the valley
The true revolution of the 2026 edition is the total customization of the experience. With the introduction of six different routes, two starting points, and three finish lines, the Via Francigena Marathon is transformed into a "tailor-made" event, capable of welcoming both athletes seeking elevation gain and families eager for a stroll through history. There will be two starting points (Avigliana and Sant'Antonino di Susa) and three different finishing points (Susa, Villar Focchiardo, and the Sacra di San Michele) to ensure maximum freedom of choice. The options range from the marathon (full 45 km, easy 40 km) to the choice of half marathons, from Avigliana to Villar Focchiardo (23 km with a stop at the Sacra di San Michele or 18 km without) and the 25 km from Sant’Antonino di Susa to Susa. For those seeking the charm of Piedmont's iconic monument without the marathon distance, the Sacra di San Michele marathon, a 12 km blend of beauty dedicated exclusively to the climb to the abbey with a panoramic view of the Sentiero dei Principi (Princes' Path).
Registration officially opened on February 4th and closes on May 24th.
