"The Art of R-ESISTERE - On the Paths of Freedom" returns for the sixth time, under the patronage of the Piedmont Region, the Metropolitan City of Turin, the Susa Valley Mountain Union, the Cozie Alps Parks Authority, and the Municipality of Almese. This year, the project once again focuses on the landscape and its biodiversity, fostering new sensibilities and creating synergies between associations, artists, and local businesses.
As in recent editions, the inauguration coincides with World Bee Day, emphasizing the connection with the environment and the protection of ecosystems. The theme chosen for 2026 is dedicated to wild herbs, described through the evocative title "Battiti" - "Herbarium indocile," an invitation to observe nature in its freest, most resilient, and most surprising form.
The "The Art of R-ESISTERE" project, born in 2021 from an idea by the Cumalè cultural association, aims to reclaim the memory of resistance through the development of new creative visions, the activation of the community with a view to active citizenship, and the valorization of the territory through artistic, cultural, and sustainable development. For this new edition, as for the last two, the event's promoters are the Monte Musinè Commercial District, the Cumalè cultural association, and the Metropolitan Pollinators Association, involving the territories and businesses of the municipalities of Almese, Villar Dora, and Caselette.
The program is structured into a series of events that will culminate, as per tradition, in the Art Festival on Thursday, July 2, in the Messa park in Almese. The inauguration is scheduled for Saturday, May 16th at 3 pm at the Ricetto per l’Arte - Agorà della Valsusa, with the opening of the exhibition Battiti - Herbarium indocile, an interactive exhibition featuring three artists from the Lower Susa Valley: Valentina Bollo, Valentina Mangini, and Valentina Rossi. At 4:30 pm, the interactive workshop “Don’t call us weeds - Wild map of the Ricetto” will be presented, a participatory project conceived by Arianna Abis and Simona Souberan in collaboration with Luigi Sgrò. On Sunday, May 17th at 4 pm, at the Ricetto per l’Arte - Agorà della Valle di Susa, the meeting “The pin and the leaf - from photosynthesis to paper” will be held. The protagonist of the event will be Luca Giunti, head of the park rangers of the Cozie Alps Parks, who will guide the public on a practical and informative journey dedicated to the creation of a herbarium. The artistic journey will continue with other events and gatherings. Among these, from June 13th to July 5th, the Ricetto rooms will host the group exhibition "Eliotropia," further enriching the dialogue between contemporary art and nature. The rich calendar of events will conclude, as is tradition, on Thursday, July 2nd in the Parco del Messa in Almese with the Festa d'Arte, a community-wide gathering celebrating art, the region, and the bonds that unite them.
