Taking place on Friday, May 22nd at the Teatro Fassino in Avigliana, "The Voice of the Sardinian Soul: Remembering Andrea Parodi" is a unique event conceived for the festival and curated by journalist and cultural operator Enrico Deregibus, who will lead the audience through a choral narrative constructed through voices, experiences, and musical moments.
The initiative is organized in collaboration with the Andrea Parodi Foundation of Cagliari, the Monferr'Autore Festival, and the Circolo Quattro Mori of Rivoli.
A central figure in Italian world music, Andrea Parodi was the founder and lead singer of Tazenda, a group that blended Sardinian musical tradition with contemporary pop and rock, bringing a strong cultural identity to national and international stages. After his experience with the band, his artistic career also developed as a solo artist, marked by significant collaborations and a profound musical exploration, capable of uniting local roots and global languages.
The connection with Fabrizio De André, to whom the 30th edition of the Valsusa Filmfest is dedicated, also permeates this evening. Andrea Parodi and Tazenda collaborated on the album Le nuvole, appearing on the song "Monti di Mola," while in 1992, De André co-wrote "Pitzinnos in sa gherra," which the group presented at the Sanremo Music Festival. This significant artistic connection makes this tribute particularly fitting within an edition of the festival dedicated to Faber.
Sharing the story of the evening, hosted by Enrico Deregibus, will be his wife Valentina Casalena Parodi and his son Luca Parodi, along with several key figures in Parodi's personal and artistic journey.
Tazenda will be present, here as a trio—with founders Gigi Camedda and Gino Marielli alongside new vocalist Serena Carta Mantiglia—for a musical performance that will perform, in a pared-down and intense manner, some songs from their repertoire. Alongside them, singer-songwriter Elena Ledda, one of the most influential interpreters of the Sardinian musical tradition and artistic director of the Andrea Parodi Award, will be accompanied by musician Mauro Palmas, a key figure in the Italian ethnomusical scene.
The evening is a moment of shared and participatory remembrance, in which personal stories and music intertwine to convey the human and artistic profile of Andrea Parodi, whose voice continues to represent a benchmark for singer-songwriter music and the promotion of cultural identities.
In the context of the Valsusa Filmfest, the event also takes on a broader symbolic value, proposing a dialogue between territories and communities: Sardinia and the Susa Valley, geographically distant but united by a strong sense of identity, belonging, and the defense of their roots. A cultural bridge that finds in music one of its most authentic and universal tools.
