Exilles
Saturday, May 2nd, at 9:00 pm in Exilles, at the multipurpose former barracks (Piazza Europa), presentation of the Ecomuseo Colombano Romean booklet no. 34, "Vauban at the Fort of Exilles: The Last Projects for the Sun King's Bastion in the Dauphiné "This Side of the Mountains," edited by Eugenio Garoglio and Massimo Garavelli.
The latest booklet published in the Ecomuseo Colombano Romean series, it traces the history of Vauban's plans for Exilles and the defense of the borders of the Upper Dora Valley in France before the Treaty of Utrecht, which sanctioned the cession to the Savoy.
Rich iconography and documents, some previously unpublished, from the archives of the French army of Vincennes, dating back to the late 17th and early 18th centuries. It bears witness to the last French attempt to defend the territories of the Dauphiné on this side of the mountains and the end of the Escartons.
Edited by Eugenio Garoglio. Research co-funded by the Municipality of Chiomonte.
