On Sunday, April 12, at 11:00 a.m. in Chiomonte, at the Pinacoteca G.A. Levis, Via Vittorio Emanuele II 75, on the occasion of the exhibition Treetops and Table Legs, a thematic tour will be held: Sacred Times and Human Times: Material Culture as a Source in the Artistic Practice of Jacopo Rinaldi and G.A. Levis.
The temporary exhibition Treetops and Table Legs by Jacopo Rinaldi is the result of an artist-in-residence program. Drawing on material culture objects preserved in ethnographic museums and inspired by the festivals and rituals, past and present, of the Susa Valley, the exhibition has given rise to a series of works that integrate artisanal tradition with an analysis of archetypal form. Rinaldi traces rotation to a recurring principle in local craftsmanship: from the hand-spinning spindle to the spinning top, passing through dancing spindles (such as the Pouento di Chiomonte), conifer tops used in tree rituals and religious processions, from ancient times to the present. The wooden sculptures on display become essential forms, connecting past and present, ritual and play, technique and narrative.
