Exilles

Radio Tempo Profondo (Pinacoteca G.A. Levis) is a collective sound archive that uses words and voices from the Susa Valley to recount the transformations of the Alpine landscape and its relationship with the communities inhabiting it. "Deep time" is the concept used to measure Earth's history on a scale of billions of years, dwarfing human experience in comparison to slow geological processes. Radio Tempo Profondo takes the premises of *Forecast*—an exhibition by Natalja Trejbalova at the Pinacoteca G.A. Levis in Chiomonte—and connects them with those who live in, study, and experience the territory, aiming to co-create new narratives of the mountain: a living body in constant transformation. To build this ever-evolving archive, a small radio recording station will be set up in the Susa Valley throughout October to listen to and question residents about how their perception of the surrounding landscape has changed over time. As part of the celebrations marking the 500th anniversary of Colombano Romean’s *Gran Pertus*—organized by the municipalities of Chiomonte, Exilles, and Salbertrand—Radio Tempo Profondo invites artists, researchers, and musicians (both local and non-local) to take part in this shared story. Excavated in the 16th century and still in use today for water supply, the tunnel serves as a symbol through which to interpret the human relationship with the landscape—spanning memories and legends, extractivism and resistance, borders and belonging.

Resonances from the Deep | A walk, practices, and frequencies at Cels
A day with Radio Tempo Profondo

09:00–16:00 | Excursion to the Gran Pertus
Organized by the Colombano Romean Ecomuseum
A guided trek starting from Amburnet towards the Quattro Denti peaks, crossing the Gran Pertus (a historic tunnel) built by Colombano Romean, accompanied by guides Laura Matta and Fabrizio Burzio. The event is open to everyone, with a special invitation to young residents of the Susa Valley to share an experience of discovery and learning about their local area.
Free event. Challenging route; appropriate clothing is recommended. Booking required (max. 20 people) at pinacotecalevis.com.

At the Circolo Amici del Cels (Cels Morliere hamlet, 3)
4:00 PM – 6:30 PM | Chestnuts in the Susa Valley: cultivation, processing, and collective practices. Workshop led by Marta Pirino
From chestnut grove maintenance to fruit preservation, this workshop connects traditional practices with contemporary challenges and the changing nature of mountain agriculture. It includes a walk, practical demonstrations, and moments for tasting and socializing, aiming to rediscover the chestnut as a food resource and foster discussion on the potential for the cooperative management of agricultural heritage.

6:30 PM – 8:00 PM | Moving the Shadow of a House
A participatory session featuring an artist-created video game by Davide Robaldo, with a live soundscape by John Bringwolves.
Creating a space for connection and shared participation, the video game reconstructs a semi-abandoned hamlet in the Susa Valley, weaving together family memories and collective history. With no set paths or instructions, the game invites players to explore and observe the landscape and the traces it holds.

8:00 PM | Chestnut-themed community dinner
Organized by Movimento Terra
Drawing inspiration from the stories and harvests of Marta Pirino’s workshop, this network of young farmers from the Susa Valley will prepare a dinner featuring chestnuts and seasonal October produce.

From 9 PM | Bucci (DJ set)
Bucci’s sonic explorations draw upon—among other influences—folk culture and songs of politics and resistance, focusing on small ecosystems and resilient communities living outside urban settings. His selection defies classification, constantly recombining echoes of the past with sounds of the future through diverse rhythms, low frequencies, pop sparks, and ever-shifting soundscapes.
