The Valsusa Filmfest, now in its 29th edition, opens its doors on Friday, March 28, kicking off a rich calendar of events that will cross the Susa Valley until June 5. The festival, always dedicated to historical memory, the environment, the mountains and social inclusion, this year is inspired by the message of peace and social justice of the Argentine singer and activist Mercedes Sosa.

The opening night will begin with the screening of the docufilm "La Valanga Azzurra" by Giovanni Veronesi, dedicated to the legendary Italian Alpine skiing team of the Seventies. The special guest of the evening will be Piero Gros, winner of the overall World Cup and the giant slalom World Cup in 1974 and Olympic and world champion in the special slalom in Innsbruck 1976, as well as a central figure of that extraordinary sporting season.

Also present during the evening will be Adolfo Lorenzi and Elena Rosa Cardinale, parents of Matilde Lorenzi, the young skier from Piedmont who tragically passed away in October 2024 at just 19 years old during a training session. The parents will present to the public the Matilde Lorenzi Foundation, created to honor the memory of their daughter and to promote safety on the ski slopes, both outdoors and indoors, with training, information and research activities.
