The project Which Memories for Which Citizens? The Susa Valley and the Identities of Second-Generation Citizens is among the ten projects funded by the 2017 call "Polo del '900 - Call for Piedmont" by the Compagnia di San Paolo.
The project Which Memories for Which Citizens emerges as a collective expression of revival, a socio-cultural development path of the Susa Valley through a plurality of actors who share this experience.
The theme of memory is fundamental for the development and future of communities. New citizens live with a thousand stimuli from their original world and the host world. It is important to ensure that second-generation youth are a stimulus and nourishment for local communities so that conditions are created for the conception and realization of artistic expressions resulting from the meeting between young artists and long-established communities.
The territorial and historical-artistic context is that of the Susa Valley with its diverse tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
The project is characterized by the close connection between cultural heritage, long-established and new resident communities, contemporary art expressions as evocative expressions of today's life.
The Susa Valley has been transformed into a large "open-air laboratory" where creative residencies have been organized for the realization of artistic productions related to the visual and/or performing arts by young foreign artists residing in Italy or second-generation immigrants, accompanied by dissemination actions carried out by working groups of local cultural actors.
In DEEP DIVES, you will find the project's brief presentation, the selection call for the participation of 4 artists in the original work production path and the application form for the call.
