What memories for which citizens?

The implementation process, lasting eighteen months, involved three phases, all aimed at promoting opportunities for exchange among the individuals involved in the project in various capacities:

1. The first phase featured activities of cultural mediation through meetings aimed at confronting cultural realities or project experiences that had implemented multicultural education projects/paths, even outside the geographical context of reference. Meetings were organized with the school and community groups involved in the project to get to know each other and share information, all aimed at offering materials and points of reflection on themes considered important for the construction of artist residencies.
   
   On June 29, 2017, at the POLO del '900, in Via del Carmine 14 in Turin, the Project was presented with the participation of Domenico Quirico, journalist for "La Stampa" and expert on all African events of the last twenty years, and writer Farhad Bitani, a former captain of the Afghan army who is now a political refugee in Italy and the author of the book “The Last White Sheet”. During the evening, the theatrical performance "Where the Sky Touches the Sea" story of a dream without borders by “Black Fabula” was presented, a theater group born from the involvement of ten young African asylum seekers, hosted by the Municipality of Almese. Since 2015, they have been partaking in the activities of the Fabula Rasa Company directed by Beppe Gromi. A concrete and creative example of integration and exchange where theater and dance tell the dreams of its protagonists, melding into a choral project.

2. The second phase included the organization of two creative residencies during which the selected artists interacted with the communities represented in the working groups to define the concept of their artworks or performances inspired by the reference themes. Subsequently, together with high school students, the production and placement/performance plan in the territory was developed.
   The creative residencies took place in June 2018 as part of the "School-Work Alternation" project of high schools.
    
3. The third phase led to the creation of original works made by the artists with the active involvement of community groups, including the organization and implementation of widespread events and moments of animation in the Susa Valley area and at the Polo del '900.
   
    

Creation of artistic installations that aid in the reading and understanding of the vast migratory phenomena in the Valley and in the construction of new memories.

On September 24, 2018, the first presentation of the results took place at the Fort of Exilles: the installations created by the students of Norberto Rosa and Des Ambrois high schools with the four foreign artists were exhibited, and a performance by Beppe Gromi with the students of Enzo Ferrari high school was staged.

On December 16, 2018, the final event of the project "What memories for what citizens, a human and artistic dialogue between the young people of the Susa Valley and 4 foreign artists residing in Italy" took place in Susa.
