On Sunday, August 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the village of Moncenisio will host the "Books at the Border" Festival, promoted by the Municipality of Moncenisio and the "Le Terre al Confine" Ecomuseum, in collaboration with the Valsusa Library System.
For a day, the Festival will transform Ferrera Moncenisio into a meeting place for authors, publishers, booksellers, readers, art, and traditions, promoting books as a tool for remembering and narrating mountain regions.
The highlight of the day will be the ceremony at 12:00 p.m. to name the Municipal Library and Alpine Documentation Center after Mario Rigoni Stern, a great interpreter of mountains, nature, and memory. The guest of honor will be Gianni Rigoni Stern, the writer's son, who will converse with Mayor Mauro Carena in the event "Mario Rigoni Stern: Mountains of Yesterday, Mountains Forever."
At 2:30 pm, writer and screenwriter Roberto Gagnor will lead the audience on "Walking through Stories," a narrative walk along the paths of Moncenisio to discover how the landscape and nature can become a source of inspiration.
Booksellers and publishers will be present throughout the day, along with the "Authors' Lounge," a space dedicated to direct encounters between writers and the public. The program will include a cheesemaking demonstration with tastings of cheeses from the Cottian Alps, presented by Rosario Decrù of the Cottian Alps Parks, and wooden creations by sculptor Franco Belmondo.
