Fill the square with bicycles. But not only that. With stories to listen to, photographs to admire, roads to explore, and people to meet. This is the spirit of A ruota libera, the bicycle festival scheduled for Sunday, July 5th in Avigliana, under the patronage of the Municipality.
Piazza Conte Rosso will be the heart of the festival: on foot, by bike. Because A ruota libera was born around the bicycle, but it speaks to anyone who wants to stop, meet people, and share a summer evening.
Promoted by Viaggi Solidali, together with the Casa Conte Rosso hostel, Ciclocucina, Ciclocentrico, Cicli Sumin Dario, and Su due ruote, the day will combine excursions, photography, meetings, and music in a single tale dedicated to slow travel, discovering the local area, and the pleasure of sharing experiences.
We begin at 3:30 pm with the Gravel & MTB experience, a free guided excursion of about 30 kilometers between the Morainic Hills, the Sangone Valley, and the Lakes of Avigliana. Leading the group will be Fabio Gariano, a cycling guide with Su due ruote. This itinerary is designed to allow you to pedal together, traverse unfamiliar landscapes, and discover the area from a different perspective. At 5:30 pm, the Casa Conte Rosso hostel will inaugurate its Bike Room, a new space dedicated to cyclists, complete with bike storage, e-bike charging, a mini workshop, and services for cyclists. At the same time, the new exhibition at Dieci luci, the hostel's exhibition space, will open with "Before Night Falls," created by Ciclocentrico. The images on display come from cycling trips through Morocco, Laos, and Albania, and recount that special hour when the day is about to end and fatigue gives way to wonder.
At 7:00 pm, the Ciclocucina space will host Jumbo Stories, the cultural format conceived and hosted by Matteo Zulian (Alp King). The evening's guests will be Giorgio and Paolo Viberti, among the most respected names in Italian cycling journalism, who will take the audience on a journey through over forty years of the Giro d'Italia, Tour de France, Olympics, and World Championships, including legendary champions, forgotten moments, and stories that have spanned generations of enthusiasts.
