The 30th Valsusa Filmfest continues with three days of events at the Cinema Comunale in Condove, where from April 9th to 11th the festival offers a journey through historical memory, contemporary cinema, and civic reflection, with screenings, meetings with filmmakers, and works from the film competition.

It begins on Thursday, April 9th at 9:00 pm with the screening of the 99-minute documentary film La luna sott'acqua by Alessandro Negrini, introduced by the director.

The film is set in Erto, one of the towns affected by the Vajont tragedy, and over time builds a portrait of its community, still committed to preserving the memory of what happened and demanding dignity and recognition. Made over the course of more than ten years, the documentary closely follows the events of the area and its inhabitants, intertwining reality and poetic vision.

What emerges is a story that spans past and present, highlighting the conflict between the need to preserve the memory of a traumatic event and the desire for rebirth, in a place profoundly affected by the greatest man-made disaster in peacetime in our country.

The program continues on Friday, April 10th at 8:45 pm with the first screenings of the works selected for the final stages of the film competition. It begins with the Alps section, dedicated to films up to 30 minutes long that explore the mountains from multiple perspectives: from mountaineering to exploration, from environmental and animal conservation to the culture, life, and traditions of Alpine communities. Titles on the program include TA BO, Opening Paths: Angola Expedition by Jesús Soria, which chronicles the spread of climbing in Angola; America by Javier Arias-Stella, set in the Peruvian Andes; and Moving Mountains by Adam Selo, a story of integration in the mountains of South Tyrol.

On Saturday, April 11th, at 3:30 PM, Roberto Loiacono's 36-minute film Shooting will be presented, introduced by the director and actors Federica Martoglio and Luca Casale.

The medium-length film tells the story of a group of characters—including a clandestine couple, a hotel concierge, a video technician, and a punk girl—whose lives intersect for seemingly random reasons, but who reveal themselves to be part of a plan orchestrated by a hidden figure who observes and directs them. Constructed like a pulp thriller, the film develops a non-linear narrative, characterized by an interweaving of points of view and a dynamic visual construction, using techniques such as split screen, flashbacks, and flash-forwards.

Filmed in Turin and entirely directed by Loiacono, including the screenplay, photography, and editing, Shooting offers a reflection on the construction of stories and the role of the gaze, questioning the boundary between reality and representation.

The selected works from the "Disertare" and "Short Films" competition sections will then be screened.

The "Disertare" section, a brand new entry this year and dedicated to Ugo Berga, a partisan and man of peace, features works that promote a culture of peace and rejection of war, such as "Non è un pranzo di gala" by Dario Cambiano, alongside international works such as "Hanguk Sukje" by Luis Angel Mendana del Rio and "Westernmagia" by Ángel Rodríguez Fernández, both from Spain.

Alongside this, the Short Films section offers a selection of contemporary perspectives, including "Il Premio" by Lorenzo Scaplone, "In Gaza Pietas" by Diego Monfredini, and "Discionore" by Vincenzo Caricari. The jury also includes actress Sara D'Amario, who starred in the television series "Cuori."
