Sant'Ambrogio di Torino
The village of Sant’Ambrogio di Torino is preparing to take a dip into the past with the historical reenactment of the Battle of Chiusa, a famous clash that took place in the year 773 between the Frankish army of Charlemagne and the Lombard troops led by King Desiderio.
For the occasion, the village will be transformed into a real medieval village: between taverns with flavors of times gone by, fire shows, juggling, ancient music concerts, workshops on Lombard daily life and medieval games, visitors will be able to live an immersive and authentic experience.
The beating heart of the festival will be the citizens of Sant’Ambrogio, involved with enthusiasm and passion in the animation of the village. The event is in fact promoted by the Municipality and the Pro Loco, with the precious contribution of hundreds of volunteers who make this extraordinary event possible every year.
During the entire event, it will be possible to use the Balengu as the only currency, minted specifically for the event and available at the two customs at the entrance to the village.
Grand finale at 11:00 pm on the evocative churchyard, where the theatrical show that recalls the historic battle will be performed. The show, the result of a theatrical workshop conducted by the Star del Laghetto group, was born from the creativity shared between the participants and the directors of the group, for a choral and engaging narration that pays homage to a crucial moment in our history.
