The Susa Valley has become a proponent of styles and experiments even in the field of architecture, particularly with the discovery of the Alps and the advent of tourism.
The romantic echo of the Grand Tour is followed by the spread of mountaineering and then hiking with vacations and summer stays, popularizing the style of "picturesque alpine" which became widespread in the Susa Valley in the "mid-mountain" locations between 1880 and 1920.
