WOLVES: GODS OR DEMONS?
SATURDAY, AUGUST 1 - AMPRIMO REFUGE
A hike in the Orsiera Rocciavré Natural Park to discover stories, myths, and folklore about the wolf.
There is a profound, ancestral, and mystical relationship between humans and the wolf; its presence—real or imagined—has accompanied humankind since time immemorial. After all, it was the first wild animal to be domesticated, and perhaps for this reason, it possesses so many different, often conflicting, identities, created through myths, legends, and popular beliefs that inextricably link it—at least in our perception—to our lives.
Departure in the afternoon, dinner at the Amprimo Refuge, and return late in the evening. The proposed itinerary is an easy trail, but you must be somewhat accustomed to walking on mountain trails, as the return journey will be in the dark, requiring the aid of flashlights. Elevation gain +300m.
Meet at Paradiso delle Rane (San Giorio) at 5:30 PM. Return is expected around 11:30 PM.
Cost for the guide: €25 for adults, €20 for children 6-12 years old. Dinner: €25, payable at the refuge; a €15 deposit is required (coffee and dessert included, drinks not included; menu subject to change).
Reservations required. Appropriate clothing, hiking shoes, and a headlamp/flashlight are recommended.
In case of inclement weather, the excursion may be subject to change or cancellation.
