Bardonecchia

In March, Bardonecchia will host two prestigious events dedicated to Telemark, a discipline of Alpine skiing, confirming its position as one of the most active and proactive locations in promoting the romantic revival of free-heel skiing.

The FIS Junior Telemark World Championships will take place from March 10th to 13th, featuring emerging young talents. Here's the detailed schedule: Tuesday the 10th: training on the slopes; Wednesday the 11th: Sprint race; Thursday the 12th: Classic race; Thursday the 13th: Parallel Sprint race and Team Parallel Sprint race.

The penultimate stage of the FIS Telemark World Cup will take place on March 15th and 16th, with the top athletes of this discipline vying for the coveted Crystal Cup. Athletes competing in the Parallel Sprint race will compete on Sunday the 15th, while those competing in the Classic race will compete on Monday the 16th.

The course chosen to host both competitions will be the FISI 50 Colomion slope, with the finish line in the splendid Pian del Sole area, easily accessible even for spectators without skis by taking the chairlift from Campo Smith.

Numerous participants from seven nations are expected in Bardonecchia, with Italy spearheaded by Raphael Mahlknecht.

The awards ceremonies for both the Junior World Championships and the FIS World Cup will take place at Campo Smith, at Harald's. This is a tribute to the Norwegian pioneer Harald Smith, who, together with Paolo Kind, built a ski jump in Bardonecchia, inaugurated in 1909. That structure, where Harald Smith himself set a world record of the time (43m), became the launchpad that led to the creation of the international ski resort of Bardonecchia.
