"Light and Darkness": an afternoon to rediscover an ancient, magical celebration—the Celtic New Year, historically known as Samhain.
This tradition has deep roots, even in Italy, marking the transition toward winter: from the fertile light to the restful darkness. In Celtic and pagan belief systems, the new year began on November 1st. October 31st was the night of transition, when the "light" half of the year (spring and summer) gave way to the "dark" half (autumn and winter).
Darkness was not viewed as something negative, but rather as a necessary period of rest for the earth—a time to fall asleep before being reborn in the spring. It is a celebration of gratitude for the summer harvest, a moment to thank the Earth for the food it has provided.
This event is designed for families with children.
Reservations are required.
Voluntary contribution.
Join us on Saturday, October 31st, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Castello del Conte Verde in Condove.
