Exhibition by Cantore in Sant'Ambrogio di Torino

Oct. 3, 2026 - Oct. 4, 2026

Sant'Ambrogio di Torino

"Icanta" flowers and creations by Enrica Cantore are on display in the Chapel of San Rocco—located on the road leading to the Sacra di San Michele, just behind the parish church—on Sunday, October 4, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. This retrospective honors the artist, who passed away last December 2nd; the event was organized by her brother Eugenio—at the urging of friends and acquaintances—and curated by Paola Comolli and Piero Del Vecchio.

The exhibition features around eighty works drawn from her vast repertoire, ranging from fabric embroideries to bags, slippers, scarves, necklaces, and various accessories created by repurposing used garments.

Born in Sant’Ambrogio in 1968, Enrica Cantore opened a custom tailoring workshop twenty years later, later transitioning into the haberdashery business with a special focus on crafts and textile creativity. Alongside the "Cutting & Sewing" courses held in her shop, she offered specialized classes and hobby workshops. She collaborated with local Universities of the Third Age on basic and advanced courses and participated in a survey of "needle arts" in the Susa valleys—commissioned by the Sant’Antonino Unitre—which culminated in the publication *Aghi, fili e racconti* (Graffio, 2014). A lover of the mountains, art, and history—particularly local history—she authored the book *Storie tessute* (Susalibri, 2010) and served as a cultural volunteer at the Sacra di San Michele. On Saturday, October 3rd, at 6:00 PM, a discussion titled "Hemp in the Susa and Sangone Valleys: Past and Present" will take place in the chapel premises. Speakers will include master weaver Bruno Tessa (from Giaveno), Professor Ferruccio Marengo—author of the book *Il secolo delle fabbriche. Storia delle industrie in alta Val Sangone* (The Century of Factories: History of Industries in the Upper Sangone Valley)—and the president of the "CanapaValleSusa" association. Piero Del Vecchio will be in conversation with the authors.
